Slots about mystical books with magical powers are all the rage at the moment, and the latest – Wild Tome of the Woods – has just been launched by Quickspin!
Wild Tome of the Woods explained
This slot is set in a very particular place: a former Medieval hunting ground in Nottinghamshire, known as Whittlewood Forest, inhabited by a reclusive wizard. His name (no kidding) is Tom. But his friends, a half frog/half newt named Crikey, a fox named Sylvester the 3rd, and a posh owl from the posh town of Oxford named Eleanor, call him “Middy.” This is short for “Midas” as Tom is obsessed with turning things into gold.
As the game begins, Middy’s magical tome has gone a bit wild and is turning random things – including his friends – into gold!
The plot line for this slot perhaps sounds a bit unusual, but also intriguing. And once you start spinning, the spectacular graphics will both entertain and make everything clear.
The key symbol for this game is, unsurprisingly, a Wild Tome. Each Wild Tome can turn a character or potion on the screen into wilds. If it turns them into another Wild Tome, as can happen, the new Wild Tome turns another character or potion into a wild (and so on). Get a full screen full of wilds and players can get a massive 1,000x multiplyer!
A book that is “full of personality”
The Quickspin team are especially pleased with their latest slot, and with good reason.
Lead artist Michael Spinks (no, not the boxer), talked about the ideas behind the game in an interview on the Quickspin website:
“We started off with three ideas at first. One was a golden goose tale in a rich woodland, and another one was a magic witch in a twilight forest. Then we ended up combining the two, taking the rich lushness from the woodland and the Wild Tome and potions from the witch.”
And why is it set in Nottinghamshire? Michael explained, “When I was designing this game, I really wanted to give it a fun and happy feeling, and I wanted to give the book as much personality as possible. And being from Nottingham myself, I also wanted it to feel like a magical Sherwood forest.”
Head of Customer Relation Management Herbert Paradis may not be an artist, but he is equally enthusiastic about his company’s new game.
“Wild Tome of the Woods is a super fun and easy game that should appeal to lots of different people,” he wrote. “And if you want to add an extra level of engagement for your players, why not add a challenge to the game and let the armoured spinion explore the magical forest? Challenges is a really great way to give a little back to your players by giving them some gameplay ‘on the house.’”
